Jacquie Wilson

After graduating from the Scottish College of Textiles with an Honours Associateship in Textile Design, Jacquie spent ten years in industry as a practising designer in a variety of positions where she worked with designers such as mary Quant, Margaret Howell and Jeff Banks.

She came to Manchester to teach textile design in 1984. Since then she has developed several programmes and modules and taught a wide range of design-related subjects including drawing and design, professional and commercial aspects of design, colour in design and design processes.

In addition to winning awards for her teaching and being a keynote speaker at several international conferences, Jacquie has exhibited artwork in solo and open exhibtions and undertaken several commisions.

Jacquie wrote "A Handbook of Textile Design", which was published in 2004. She is currently writing a chapter for "Textile Design, Principles, Advances and Applications" which will be published in 2010.

Jacquie completed her Masters in 1992 on knitted character representation for CAD and she is just about to embark on a PhD entitled "Style versus Fashion", which will look specifically at clothing for the over 50s.

Jacqiue's participation in this particular exhibition stems from her interest in the way different designers respond to the same source material and how repeat structures impact on final designs.
