Breakfest - Before the start of a day's testing
A collection of notched tensile specimens awaiting tensile testing. I kept the depth of field large to keep all of the specimens in focus, showing the detail and differences between each one. I used one enhancement, a filter from Adobe Photoshop called "Glowing Edges", having an effect similar to that of a photo negative, but preserving some colour in the highlighted areas, making the specimens look glossy and allowing the threads to stand out.
Acknowledgements: To Dr Nick Stevens for letting me use the camera, lens and tripod (from the Corrosion and Protection Centre) used to photograph the specimens.
