Professional biography

Delia Vazquez is an expert in retail marketing, e-business and e-tailing and teaches all three subjects at The University of Manchester.

A former buyer for the Co-op and a UMIST marketing graduate to boot, Delia is a lecturer in Textiles and Paper, part of the School of Materials.

She is responsible for producing students who are managing the growth of fashion retail stores in the UK - many in companies like Primark, New Look and Matalan.

In addition to being a lecturer, Delia is also a tutor on two postgraduate programmes - MEnt Textile Design, Technology and Fashion and MSc International Fashion Retailing - and is the department's Industrial Placement Officer.

She is also credited with creating the MSc International Fashion Retailing programme.

Current research projects

  • 'Investigating Price, Convenience and Hedonic Consumption as Determinants of Internet Shopping' to be submitted to the International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management.
  • 'Comparing UK and US consumers' internet shopping motivations' to be submitted to International Review of Retail, Distribution and Consumer Research.
  • 'Exploring US consumer motivations for online clothing shopping'. EAERCD 8th International Conference on Retailing & Commercial Distribution Teaching and Research Issues 30th June - 2nd July 2004.
