Experience at the University
Fan Huang is from China, and after graduating from his BSc in Polymer Science and Engineering from Wuhan University of Technology, Fan enrolled onto Manchester's MSc in Polymer Materials Science and Engineering. Here, Fan tells us about his experiences on the programme:
I chose the MSc in Polymer Materials Science and Engineering because I appreciated its potential to enhance my future; I chose the School of Materials at Manchester because of the world-wide reputation of the University, the extraordinary teaching quality and the advanced laboratory equipment.
The main benefit of the course to me was gaining experience in advanced polymer synthesis and characterisation, in particular of conductive polymers.
So what do you remember as being the highlight of your time in Manchester?
The joy I had from the interesting lectures and the laboratory work, more importantly the satisfying results I got from the research with the help from my supervisor and colleagues.
So now you are studying for your PhD at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway, how do you think that your MSc has helped your career?
The knowledge I got from the classes and skills accumulated from the lab would definitely help me through a lot of difficulties in the future and can surely make me creative about many unpredictable challenges. Communicating with people from various places is very good for co-operations with co-workers now and later.
Over the next couple of years, I am going to finish my PhD and apply my current work in industry.
So, any final tips or advice for students looking to study the MSc in Polymer Materials Science and Engineering?
Keep focused at the classes and in the lab and enjoy the rest of the time!
