Fabrication and application of nanostructured oxides
One-dimensional (1D) nanostructures have attracted increasing interest due to their unique properties. Integrated nanowires of transition metal oxides are ideal materials for energy storage device due to the highly reversible redox reactions and high specific surface areas. In this study, the knowledge accumulated in the research on anodizing will be exploited in the fabrication of large area, nanostructured porous membrane with high aspect ratio.
By using anodic aluminum oxide template-based electrochemical method, integrated nanowires of transition metal oxides will be fabricated. The morphology, structure and chemistry of the fabricated nanowires will be fully characterized by using high resolution electron microscopy. Further, the application of fabricated nanowires as energy storage device materials will be explored.
