Types of taught programme qualification and modes of study
This is a brief guide to the types of programme and qualification we offer and the different ways you can study them.
Levels of study
Postgraduate Certificate
The Postgraduate Certificate award takes six-months to complete full-time and can also be completed part-time and distance-learning. This award is made up of 60-credits and is structured in a similar way to the Diploma and MSc but is shorter and there is no dissertation to complete.
Postgraduate Diploma
The Postgraduate Diploma award takes nine-months to complete full-time and can also be completed part-time and distance-learning. This award is made up of 120-credits and is structured in a similar way to the MSc but without the completion of a dissertation.
Master of Science (MSc)
The MSc award takes 12-months to complete full-time and up to 60-months part-time and distance-learning. This is an intensive taught programme, made up of 90-credits with a 90-credit dissertation at the end of the programme.
Modes of study
Full-time on-campus
Full-time on-campus programmes require you to study full-time at the School. During the early stages of the programme, classes will normally be scheduled five-days per week. Additional self-study outside of the classroom will also be required.
Part-time on-campus
Part-time on-campus programmes require you to study on a modular basis at the School. Classes will normally run in five-day blocks and you will be required to complete additional self-study outside of the classroom.
Part-time distance-learning
Part-time distance-learning programmes are delivered via our web-based portal Web-CT. You will be required to spend at least 10 hours per week on web-based and self study.
