Congratulations if you have been accepted onto one of the courses we offer in The School of Materials. We very much look forward to meeting you in September.
You will be joining the UK's largest and most popular University, and also the largest Materials group in Europe.
The faculty has a Student Orientation Support Website that is worth a visit before you arrive.
We are a split-site School with Materials Science and Engineering and Biomedical Materials Science courses based in the Materials Science Centre and Textiles courses based in Sackville Building.
All students who accept their place by 31 August are guaranteed University accommodation. If you have not already applied, then go to the University Accommodation site to see the halls on offer and download the application form. This map shows the location of the accommodation within the university site.
If you want to get started on your reading before arrival, choose the list for your chosen course either on the Textile Courses page or the Materials Courses page.
We are frequently asked by students which laptop they should purchase before arrival. For students enrolling on the Design Management for Fashion Retailing course, please see the Textile Courses page. For all other courses we do not recommend any particular laptop, as long as it will support Microsoft Office.
