Employing our graduates

Our innovative research has a real industry focus and there are lots of opportunities for you and your company to meet, recruit and influence the future leaders in both materials science and fashion business.

We have a wide range of industrial and business partners that have benefited either from employing our graduates, from industrial placements or through applied research focusing on their company.

Examples of companies we have worked closely with in recent years include Airbus, Jaguar, ASOS, Rolls-Royce, Topshop, Levi's, EdF, Jaeger, Tesco, Debenhams and Urban Outfitters.

Industry-led projects

At the Department of Materials we offer all of our successful students the opportunity to undertake an industry-led project as part of their degree. The duration of the project varies depending on the student's course, and can either be based at your site or at the University.

This is an excellent opportunity for both you and our students, who are given the chance to put into practice what they have learnt during their course.

Participating in an industry-led student project can bring fantastic benefits to your company.

  • It brings fresh ideas to the company, and enables fast knowledge transfer.
  • It gives you the chance to get a head start on recruiting the best new graduates for your company.
  • It builds up long-term relationships with leading academics in the relevant technical field.
